Stacy DeLonge begins her 14th season as an assistant coach at Michigan State, where her primary responsibilities include working with the Spartan goalkeepers.
DeLong has tutored four of the program's top all-time goalkeepers in Nicole Galas, Jill Flietstra, Courtney Clem and Gabrielle Gauruder.
Galas, who played from 2004-07, finished her career ranked in the top 10 in virtually every goalkeeping category. She ranks third in shutouts (21) and fourth in both saves (262) and wins (25). In 2005, Galas posted a 12-6-5 record, a 0.92 goals against average, a .832 save percentage and set a school record for shutouts in a season, with 12.
Flietstra earned First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-Great Lakes Region honors in 2011, boasting a GAA of 0.64 and a save percentage of .885 as a senior. With her outstanding season, Flietstra ascended into the top spot in the MSU record books for career GAA (0.74). Her 11 shutouts in 2011 gave her 29 for her career -- the most in Spartan history.
Clem, who played from 2011-14, made her mark on the Spartan book, tying Sara Kloosterman for the fourth highest saves in a single season (106). Clem posted 6.00 saves per game during her 19 games in the 2014 season. Overall, Clem sits at fifth in the Spartan record book for cumulative saves (240), fourth for saves per game (4.61), seventh for goals against average (1.16), sixth for shutouts (12.1), and fifth for wins (24).
DeLonge's most recent success was in mentoring Gabrielle Gauruder last season. Gauruder claimed seventh for a single season in goals against average (0.79) in 2015. She is also sixth in saves per game (5.40) in the 2013 season. Gauruder was also placed second on the career list in goals against average (0.92) and 10th all-time in saves (141).
The former Stacy Heller began her coaching career as an undergraduate assistant at Michigan State, following a stellar four-year career as a goalkeeper with the Spartans. The Madison, Wisconsin, native was a two-time All-Big Ten honoree, including first-team accolades in 2002. She posted a school-record 34 wins while her 22 shutouts rank second as her career in Green and White remains one of the most successful in school history. Heller was recognized as an Academic All-American in 2003.
